On Saturday November 13, 2009 the Diaconal Community will gather at the Resort & Conference Center at Hyannis on Cape Cod for a day of continuing education and fellowship.
Father TADEUSZ PACHOLCZYK, Ph.D. Director of Education and Ethicist at the National Catholic Bioethics Center has agreed to be our keynote speaker for our November Assembly in Hyannis on Cape Cod. The topic of his talk will be ‘The Ethics of Life’
The Plan for the day includes workshops in the afternoon led by deacons who are experts in medical ethics, end of life issues and the protection of God's gift of life.
Please mark this day on your calendars and get the word out to all of the deacons in our community.
Registration material will be available in June.
Registration Desk will be open on Friday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and will reopen at 7:30 AM on Saturday morning. Each attendee will receive a registration package containing conference material and a certificate of six (6) C.E.U.’s for diaconal continuing education. NO REGISTRATION MATERIALS ARE NEEDED FOR THE RECEPTION ON FRIDAY NIGHT.
The registration fee is $115.00 per person. However, those who register early, that is prior to September 15, 2010, will receive a discount and pay only $100.00 per person. This includes the Friday reception, Saturday full buffet breakfast, your entry to the general sessions, and Saturday lunch. Please register early to ensure your space.
On Friday evening there will be a reception that will include coffee, decaf coffee, tea, desserts, cash bar. So go ahead and enjoy dinner, but save room for dessert. The Friday night reception will be in the “Rose Island Room” starting at 8:00 PM.
Saturday morning, vendors will be setting up between 7:00am and 7:30am – please give them time and space to set-up; they will remain open until just before Mass in the afternoon. Please visit them during the day to make purchases. A continental breakfast will be available from 7:30am to 8:45am. Welcome and Morning Prayer is at 8:45am.
If you wish to stay overnight at the Resort & Conference Center at Hyannis, we have been guaranteed a rate of $143.00 per night, per room, plus local taxes for a block of rooms that NADD Region 1 has guaranteed. This rate will hold for the dates November 11, 2010 through November 15, 2010. The hotel will guarantee a specific block of rooms at this rate only until all the rooms in the block are reserved but no later than October 1, 2010. We strongly suggest that you call early to make reservations. Please do not wait until the last minute!
