On Saturday November 8TH the Diaconal Community will gather in Newport RI for a day of continuing education and fellowship. This year we are blessed to have Deacon William T. Ditewig, PhD as our keynote speaker.
Deacon Ditewig will present "The Emerging Diaconate, Servant Leaders in a Servant Church." Drawing from his most recent book by the same name, Deacon Ditewig will provide us with an opportunity to reflect and dialog on the significance of the emerging diaconate to the Church of the 21st century.

Assembly Facts
Registration Desk will be open on Friday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and will reopen at 7:30 AM on Saturday morning. Each attendee will receive a registration package containing conference material and a certificate of six (6) C.E.U.’s for diaconal continuing education. NO REGISTRATION MATERIALS ARE NEEDED FOR THE RECEPTION ON FRIDAY NIGHT.
The registration fee is $110.00 per person. However, those who register early, that is prior to September 15, 2008, will receive a discount and pay only $95.00 per person. This includes the Friday reception, Saturday continental breakfast, your entry to the general sessions, and Saturday lunch. Please note that the capacity of the meeting room is limited and while we try to accommodate walk-ins, we cannot guarantee that space will be available. Please register early to ensure your space.
On Friday evening there will be a reception that will include coffee, decaf coffee, tea, desserts, cash bar. So go ahead and enjoy dinner, but save room for dessert. The Friday night reception will be in the “Rose Island Room” starting at 8:00 PM.
Saturday morning, vendors will be setting up between 7:00am and 7:30am – please give them time and space to set-up; they will remain open until just before Mass in the afternoon. Please visit them during the day to make purchases. A continental breakfast will be available from 7:30am to 8:45am. Welcome and Morning Prayer is at 8:45am.
If you wish to stay overnight at the Hyatt hotel, we have been guaranteed a rate of $130.00 per night, per room, plus local taxes for a block of rooms that NADD Region 1 has guaranteed. This rate will hold for the dates November 6, 2008 through November 10, 2008. The hotel will guarantee a specific block of rooms at this rate only until all the rooms in the block are reserved but no later than October 6, 2008. We strongly suggest that you call early to make reservations. Please do not wait until the last minute!
