Easter in the "Meantime"
Faith in the Crossfire
NADD Region I Staff Day is a day of continuing education and reflection hosted by NADD Region I. On May 3rd we will gather in Springfield with our staff members for a day with Gil Bailie, looking at the impact of the American culture on the Church's efforts to reach our world. Gil is a cultural anthropologist who will provide us with great insight into the challenges of bridging the communication gap between the Church culture and the American culture. How are we, as ministers of the Gospel, heard in the American culture, How can we bring the Word into our world?
From the
beginning of Christianity, the Cross of Christ has been thought vulgar and
foolish by the pseudo-sophisticates and the Trinity remains a scandal to Jews
and is today especially so to Muslims among others, considered an unwelcome
barrier to interreligious dialogue, in the interest of which some are willing to
mute references to it. But the truth is that without the Trinity and the Cross
we simply cannot understand the greatness of the human vocation and the tragedy
of the human predicament. Christianity is about what it means to be human.
Staff Day
All directors and diaconate office staff members are invited to attend. Each member diocese has four seats at this day and additional participation is available for a contribution of $15 per head toward the cost of the day.
